Dr. Balcázar is an internationally recognized public health leader whose life work centers on advancing health equity, dignity, and justice.
With academic appointments at 5 US institutions such as Charles R. Drew University, the University of Texas Health Science Center at El Paso, University of North Texas School of Public Health, Fort Worth, Arizona State University, University of Maine, he led community-based research across the U.S.-Mexico borderlands and beyond.
He is retired and lives in Guerrero, Mexico.
